Around 30 participants attended the event. The program started at 3:30 pm IST after a brief introduction of Prof. Krishnapura by secretary Dr. Swarnil Roy. Prof. Krishnapura obtained his B.Tech. from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, India and his PhD from Columbia University, New York. He is currently a professor at IIT-Madras. An all-pass filter architecture that can be generalized to high orders and be realized using active circuits was proposed in the lecture. Using this, a compact true-time-delay element with a widely tunable delay and a large delay-bandwidth product was demonstrated. Coarse tuning of delay was realized by changing the filter’s order while keeping the bandwidth constant and fine tuning was implemented by changing the filters bandwidth utilizing the delay-bandwidth tradeoff. A widely tunable millimeter wave quadrature VCO using two resonant modes in a resonator with a new 8-port coupled inductor structure was also proposed. It was an interactive session, there was a lot of questions from the audience. At the end of the event, section chair Dr. Sagar Mukherjee delivered vote of thanks.
