Outstanding YP Volunteer - Archit Goswami

Archit Goswami is currently working as Assistant Manager – Supply Chain Management, Bharti Airtel LTD, Gurugram where he leads the Fiber tools and Accessories Sourcing. As the assistant manager, he is responsible for handling a portfolio of fiber tools and for driving projects for operations excellence – Vendor management, BG Automation, GST & advance recovery.

He graduated with a Bachelor in Engineering from the Netaji Subhas University of Technology, Delhi in the year 2020. His piquant fascination with the design and implementation of systems compelled him to choose Instrumentation and Control as Archit’s major. He completed his high school graduation at Mount Carmel School, Dwarka (Delhi) in the year 2016 and was awarded the LIC Student of the Year Award for academic excellence. He was also the recipient of the School Physics Topper Award for outstanding performance in the CBSE Class XII Board Examination 2016.

Being a member of a prestigious organization IEEE, for the past four years, he has incessantly contributed towards the invigoration of its roots at the University, Section, and Council level since the onset of my freshman year. From serving as the Mentor and Section Student representative of the Section Student Network Team at IEEE Delhi Section to serving as the Vice-Chair, Young Professionals & Chair – Student Coordination Team of IEEE India Council, these volunteering opportunities have been instrumental in instilling in his character the desire to succeed and to come up with innovative ways to address a problem rather than passively following others.

Apart from being an active volunteer at IEEE, he has regularly participated in a range of extracurricular activities. He has also been a three-time zonal level table tennis position holder and won a gold medal in the Triquetra tournament. Being a firm believer in giving back to the community, he volunteered as a STEM teacher for class tenth unprivileged students.

He was Vice-Chair – YP & Chair – SCT, IEEE India Council: Elected as the youngest execom member of IEEE IC to cater to the needs of over 25000+ IEEE members. Led the organization of First Ever Hybrid National Level Congress – AISYWLC-20 with the highest ever participation of 700+ registrations. AISYWLC-20 received appreciation from R10 director Mr. Deepak Mathur for its extraordinary performance and engagement. Organized a webinar titled Personal Branding by Microsoft – Global Intern Headwhich received 2200+ registrations and more than 900 attendees. Organized a webinar titled Build for India: A Step towards Atmanirbhar Bharat by Vice President of Paytm. The event attracted 3000+ registrations and more than 1400 attendees, highest ever in the history of the IC. Conducted Training Session on IEEE Resources: Collabratec & vTools” with Ms. Ewell Tan from IEEE Asia Pacific Limited, and Mr. John Day from MGA which saw a massive 1100+ engagements from all over India. Organized IEEE IC SAC Chairs and SSRs Virtual Meet with R10 SAC Chair & R10 Student Representative. Hosted the IC YP Chairs, Meet with R10 YP Chair. Undertook the responsibility of updating the database of the SSRs, SAC Chairs, SB Chairs, YP Chairs, and WIE Chairs to create a coherent model of communication. Organized WIE Chairs Virtual Meet with R10 WIE Chair & IEEE IC Execomm. Having positions of responsibilities in all the collaborating bodies – played an integral role in coordinating INDICON-20.

General Secretary, Young Professionals Affinity Group – IEEE Delhi Section : Took the initiative of starting a podcast series where professionals from various walks of life shared their journey, addressed some highly asked questions, and provided solutions to challenging issues of their sectors. Conducted “Bridging the Gap” with IEEE YPs as a STEP initiative to highlight the importance of being an IEEE member beyond first degree. IEEE Delhi Section YP was awarded a prestigious first runner’s up in AISYWLC’20.

He was social Media Coordinator – Student Coordination Team, IEEE India Council : Managed the social media accounts of IEEE India Council and the Student Coordination Team. Devised a strategy for the promotion of the event and was responsible for logistical requirements apart from the assigned work which involved the promotion of the event.

Mentor – IEEE Delhi Section Student Network : Mentored the IEEE Delhi Section Student Network Team to organize Delhi Section Student Congress-19. The event saw participation from more than 280+ members from all over the section. Implemented the vision of organizing a Subsection Congress in Rajasthan and Chandigarh into action by collaborating with IEEE Manipal University Jaipur and IEEE Punjab Engineering College respectively for the same. The maiden edition of RSC itself saw the participation of 150+ members from the Rajasthan Subsection. The maiden edition of CSC organized virtually, saw a participation of 1200+ members from all across the India Council.

Section Student Representative – IEEE Delhi Section Student Network : Organized various notable events such as the DSC ’18, Annual General Meeting, WIEmpower, and ResearchThon and Delhi Section Award Ceremony by collaborating with various Student Branches. DSC’18 saw the participation of 300+ members from more than 30+ student branches.

Vice-Chair – IEEE NSUT SB : Convened the premier edition of HackNSUT, a 36 hours long hackathon, which not only received 1200+ registrations but was also recorded as the 3rd largest hackathon on Dev-folio. The event was also felicitated with the renowned Darrel Chong Student Activity Award for its creativity, commendable execution, and being value-driven. Aligned with the team on various other tech events such as Tech Week’18, wherein got the exposure to be the foreman behind significant occasions such as Circuitrix, Case Study competition, CodeBuddy, QuickCode, LFR, E-Art, and Comikaze and procured sponsorship worth 15K in cheque.

He has been a zealous volunteer in IEEE for the last 4 years, and has played a pivotal role in the Membership Development and Retention Activities of IEEE Delhi Section. He also has delivered many intriguing speaker sessions to enlighten students about IEEE and its objective in various Student Branches. Archit introduced the concept of three flagship events of the IEEE Delhi Section instead of just one. The initiatives I undertook in the Section, led him to be the recipient of Dr. J. K. Pal Memorial Award for Best IEEE Student Member, Outstanding Student Volunteer Award as well As Section Student Network Award for contributing loyalties in IEEE Delhi Section Student Network Team.

He has also volunteered as the Chair – SCT and Vice-Chair, YP in IEEE India Council. AISYWLC’20 and INDICON’20 were two such mega-events that had to be ideated and executed gracefully at the national scale in a virtual model. Despite the pandemic and the horrific widespread spread of the virus in India, both events concerning two very unalike aspects were sophisticatedly managed by him. He took charge of announcements, speaker sessions, award ceremonies, presentations, award deliveries, food conveyance, and refreshment circulations and spearheaded the Registration Committee which successfully served its purpose by having the highest registrations ever of around 700 from all 12 Sections of IEEE India Council. Leading to my commendable efforts on a national platform, he received the SAC Member role in IEEE Delhi Section Execomm and currently oversee various initiatives, activities, technical workshops, & competitions, streamline talk sessions with eminent tech personalities, all in all, have dedicated myself in propagating the motto of IEEE to constantly improve the number of IEEE Members and ensure future growth. He believes his strengths lie in being a strategic thinker, people manager, communicator, and his journey so far has further invigorated these qualities and made him worthy of this recognition.

Apart from IEEE at Bharti Airtel Limited, Gurugram he is handling initiatives such as Vendor consolidation, vendor issue management, payment term extension for operational excellence, and financial savings for Bharti Airtel’s supply chain function. Part of the team that built the first-ever single database model for Airtel Tower’s company department.

At NSUT, Delhi (Bachelor of Engineering) he was

  • Prime placement coordinator of College : Selected out of 700+ candidates to head a team of 30+ students responsible for scheduling placement drives and managing the human resource team of all the companies visiting the campus.
  • Brought new companies on campus to help with the placement of students and negotiated the packages with HRs.
  • Assisted in the placement of the highest-ever 600+ students in the history of NSUT.

Cultural Committee of College Fests:

  • For continuous 3 years, I was on the Cultural Committee of College Fests, where I was responsible for Sponsorship, Logistics, Security, and Event Management.
  • Procured sponsorship from PSUs and managed guest artists in college.
  • Vice-Chair – Connecting Dream Foundation, NSUT Chapter: Took initiative of Project Dream library for the betterment of MCD school students.
  • Published a research paper on “Automating Home Appliances using TV Whitespace” in the 17th Edition of IEEE India Council Conference – Indicon 2020.
  • Gold Medalist in the Triquetra, a regional level Table Tennis Championship organized by IIIT Delhi.

Also at Mount Carmel School, Dwarka (Intermediate):

  • Recipient of “LIC Student of the Year Award” for academic excellence.
  • Awarded the Academic Excellence Award for being the School topper in Physics.
  • Captain of the House Sports team, led the team to victory in the March Past Competition and won the trophy.
  • Consecutive Three years Podium Finisher in the zonal Table Tennis tournament.
